Here are some common questions about Ancestral Divination.
Who does the Divination?
Rev. Yayi Joyce. Thirty years in Low Country Hoodoo as a Diviner, Educator, Ritualist, Researcher, and Author, rooted in her Gullah Geechee lineage. She is an Interfaith minister and spiritual counselor, and the founder of Hoodoo Praise House and Ancestral Psychology™.
What is Ancestral Divination?
Divination is not guesswork. It works through a system and proverbs to deliver a precise prescription for your Crown and your life.
It is meant for preventive maintenance just as much as times of trouble. Through clear prescriptions and spiritual hygiene, Divination gives you clear next steps to prevent crisis, stay aligned with yourself and your Ancestors, and reach your highest destiny in life.
What Ancestral Divination is not
Divination is not passive fortune-telling, entertainment, or a way to bypass your own daily accountability. It does not exist to feed spiritual chaos or tell you what you want to hear.
A session may bring comfort in a hard season or clarity on a specific situation, but we do not dictate what comes through. We do not enter the Divination to manage the Ancestors. The Ancestors enter the Divination to speak.
What’s the difference between Divination, Ancestral Psychology™, and a Follow-Up?
The function is different. Each path does a distinct kind of work.
- Ancestral Divination is for when you need a message: direct guidance from the Ancestors about a personal situation, question, or crossroad.
- A Follow-Up Session is strictly for the first week after your Divination, when you need immediate help walking out the prescriptions that came through.
- Ancestral Psychology™ is for the season between one week and three months after your Divination. It is ongoing support for walking out your prescriptions, reflection, and practical help applying your Ancestral work to your daily life, patterns, and household. It is not a new Divination.
Note: After three months, the season has shifted, and it is time for a new Divination.
What is Ancestral Psychology™?
Ancestral Psychology™ is a somatic Ancestral technique developed by Rev. Yayi Joyce. It combines thirty years of experience in Divination with her work as a spiritual counselor and Interfaith minister, and it is rooted in Low Country Hoodoo.
It is spiritual counsel, not psychotherapy. Rev. Yayi Joyce is not a licensed mental health professional, and Ancestral Psychology™ is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
What happens once I book?
Once you book, you receive a link to schedule your appointment at a time that works for you. You also receive a PDF, What to Expect from Divination, to review before we sit down together.
Your Divination is 45 minutes and $121. We pray in first, the Ancestors speak, and you leave with your prescription and your next steps clear.
What should I bring to a Divination?
Bring yourself, fully present. You will need a quiet, private space free from distractions so you can focus completely for the full 45 minutes.
We do not begin the session until after we pray in. From there, I ask the Ancestors what is going on and deliver what they are saying to you first. Once their message and direction are fully laid out, you will have time to ask any questions so you leave knowing exactly what you are being directed to do next.

The quiz runs entirely inside your web browser. Your answers are used only to show you a result on the page, and they are never sent to us or to anyone else. Nothing you select is stored, saved, or connected to you in any way. When you close or refresh the page, your answers are gone.
What we collect on this page
The page itself does not ask you for your name, email, or any personal information, and it does not use cookies or tracking pixels of its own. The only outside connection the page makes is to load its typefaces from Google Fonts, which may receive your device's IP address as part of delivering the font files.
Booking and other services
When you click a button to book a session, read on Substack, or download materials, you leave this page and enter a service run by another company. Each of those services collects information under its own privacy policy, which you should read before you use it:

Your session
What comes through in a Divination or an Ancestral Psychology™ session is held in confidence. Notes, prescriptions, and anything shared in session are kept private between you and Rev. Yayi Joyce and are not shared with anyone else unless you ask us to or the law requires it.
Your choices
You may ask at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You may also unsubscribe from any email we send by using the link in the email or by contacting us directly.
Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
